Young Ideas Came to Life | 小小创意,真正开市! TJCF 2026 Little Entrepreneurs’ Fair
On August 29, TJCF’s Little Entrepreneurs’ Fair transformed our Menlo Park community space into a bustling marketplace filled with creativity, confidence, and young entrepreneurial spirit.
This year, 35+ booths brought together young entrepreneurs, hands-on experiences, community partners, and live performances. From handmade crochet creations, jewelry and DIY cards to succulent gardens, games, robots, baked goods and imaginative products, every corner of the market offered something different to discover.
But the Fair was about much more than what was being sold.
Young entrepreneurs had the opportunity to take their ideas all the way from creation to a real marketplace. They designed their products and displays, set prices, introduced their ideas to customers, answered questions, promoted their booths, handled transactions, and adapted as the market unfolded.
For many, it was a chance to discover that entrepreneurship isn't only about having a great idea — it's also about communicating that idea, understanding your customers, solving problems, and having the confidence to put something you created out into the world.
A Marketplace Made for Kids
Throughout the morning, families moved from booth to booth shopping, talking with young business owners, trying hands-on activities and joining games and demonstrations.
Some booths invited visitors to make their own creations. Others challenged kids with games, introduced them to Chinese culture and traditional instruments, showcased robots and engineering ideas, or simply made shoppers stop and ask, “How did you make that?”
That interaction was exactly what made the day special.
Instead of learning entrepreneurship from a worksheet or presentation, children experienced a real marketplace — with real customers, real conversations, real decisions and plenty of unexpected moments along the way.
Creativity Beyond the Marketplace
The Fair also became a stage for young talent.
Live youth bands brought music into the marketplace, while cultural experiences such as traditional Chinese instruments added another dimension to the day. Community partners and sponsors joined the event with interactive booths of their own, giving families even more opportunities to explore, play and connect.
Together, the market, performances and activities created something bigger than a children's sales event: a community space where young people could confidently share what they know, make and love.
It Takes a Community
One of our favorite sights of the day was seeing parents step back while children spoke directly with customers — explaining a product, demonstrating an activity, counting TJCF Cash, or figuring out what to do when someone stopped at their booth.
Those small moments are a big part of why TJCF continues to create opportunities like the Little Entrepreneurs’ Fair.
We believe children build confidence by having opportunities to try, create, communicate, make decisions — and sometimes figure things out as they go.
A huge thank you to every young entrepreneur who worked hard to prepare, every family who came to shop and participate, our experience booth hosts and performers, our volunteers, community partners, and sponsors who helped make the day possible.
And to our young entrepreneurs: we hope this is only the beginning of what you create next.
